Introduction

Long cottage in North Devon is a quality barn conversion set in the quiet countryside, presented to a very high standard and close to 4 main surfing beaches.

 

LOCATION

Long cottage is a traditional long house which were extremely common in the middle ages allowing the owners to live at one end of the property and sheltered animals at the other. As times have evolved through history buildings such as Long cottage have been adapted to suit the 21st century living of today allowing us a glance into the middle age with a contemporary twist.

 

Long cottage is located between Georgeham and Knowle in a hamlet named Upcott. Upcott offers peace, tranquillity and beautiful countryside all year round. From Long cottage it is a 4 minute drive to Georgeham's famous free houses (The Rock Inn & The Kings Arms) and only 4.5 miles to Croyde's spectacular beach. Ideally situated between 3 other main surfing beaches in the area of Putsborough, Saunton and Woolacombe bay all within easy driving distance. Upon arrival at Long cottage you will have parking for 3 cars on the driveway and access to the large expanse of garden in peace and tranquility of the countryside. 

 

PROPERTY

Enter through the main door of this barn conversion into the tiled hallway decorated in a neutral theme with boot storage and a hanging rail for wetsuits. Directly opposite the front door is a large utility room with a washbasin, washing machine, clothes line and tumble dryer. Through an archway is a beautifully crafted wooden staircase leading up to the 2nd floor, a large free standing fridge freezer and entrance into the open plan lounge, kitchen diner.

This cozy room is the main hub of the property which offers plenty of natural daylight, hard wood flooring and modern living styles. The kitchenette has white glossed fronted units with a black contrasting work surface which blends perfectly with the matching accessories such as; black microwave, white 2 slice toaster, kettle, sink, oven, electric halogen hob with extractor and a built in dishwasher.

The dinning space offers views over the fields with plenty of space to accommodate up to 8 people around the wooden and wicker table set and an ornate dresser unit houses all the cutlery and crockery one would need on holiday.

The living space at long cottage features a chocolate corner sofa, coffee table, LCD TV with Sky free view and a DVD player on a beautiful wooden unit with a selection of books, magazines, toys and games for the children. The opposite corner of the lounge is a quiet area with 2 tub chairs, table, Ipod mp3 docking station and a reading lamp for those moments to gaze through the window and soak up the atmosphere of the country.

 

1ST FLOOR

The 1st floor of this property is one to be admired with close attention to detail, space and craftsmanship.

The master bedroom is spacious with harmonising neutral tones and plush cream carpets, this room has a king size bed with 2 bedside tables, reading lamps, luggage rack, mirror, hair dryer, built in double wardrobe with hanging and shelf storage space. The master bedroom benefits from a private modern en-suite bathroom with W.C, washbasin, vanity unit, mirror and bath with shower over.

Bedroom two is arranged as a twin room (on request can be made into a super king-size) with 2 matching bedside tables with reading lamps, hair dryer, skylight, built in wardrobe, ornate children's chair and a low feature window.

Bedroom three is the most flexible of the rooms in Long cottage allowing many different configurations to suit your party. As standard this room is a super king bed with a separate single bed. (Upon request this room can be changed into 3 single beds and a trundle bed - Perfect for a group of children!) This bedroom also benefits from views over the garden, 2 chest of drawers with reading lamps and an armchair.

The family bathroom provides a bath with shower over, washbasin, W.C, vanity mirror and a free standing storage unit.

 

OUTSIDE SPACE

Long cottage has a tiered garden with an oval shaped patio at the rear with a wooden table, chairs and gas BBQ for those hot summers evenings spent with the family. The lawned garden is a shared area with the adjoining cottage but offers ample of space to find your own little peice of haven and soak up the sunshine.
