Family attractions in North Devon

For families with toddlers there is a wide range of attractions close to the accommodation we provide, many of the indoor attractions for North Devon provide soft play such as Funderzone indoor play centre in Barnstaple, if cuddly animals are your toddlers thing be sure to check out one of the fun farm family attractions in North Devon like the Big Sheep in Bideford, pack a picnic and make a day of it as there is so much do explore a few hours just aren't enough.

In our opinion the best cottages for those who like to explore are Church Cottage and Cloudbreak Cottage, both of these well appointed properties are perfectly positioned centrally in North Devon, the benefits of which are that they provide a short travelling distance to the list of attractions you plan on visiting.

Tunnels Beaches lies within a designated area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is part of a Voluntary Marine Conservation area. Tunnel beach follows the history of how the tunnels and unique coves were created.

The Gnome reserve

 - Home to 1000+ gnomes and pixies, ready to welcome you to their delightful beech wood, complete with babbling brook. Wild Flower Garden where around 250 different species of wild flowers, herbs and grasses grow. Gnome hats are loaned free of charge together with fishing rods. Glen Lyn Gorge

- you should not miss a visit to this spectacular gorge, through which poured the waters of the 1952 Lymouth Flood Disaster. There are lovely woodland walks by the waterfalls and well made paths climb this beautiful unspoilt valley. Ideal spot to bring a picnic and sit beside the river. Also Power of Water exhibition showing how some of the water from West Lyn River now produces environmentally friendly hydro-electricity. Children can operate the giant waterwheels and water cannons. Arlington Court - Nr Barnstaple

- This intriguing and intimate house is crowded with a lifetime of treasures amassed by the well-travelled Miss Rosalie Chichester, including model ships, costumes, pewter and exotic shells. In the 'bat cave' you can watch Devon's largest colony of Lesser Horseshoe bats, and in the stables is one of the finest collections of carriages and horse-drawn vehicles in the country.
